This Sufi concert was conducted with the mission to raise awareness and aid the “SAVE LIGHTMAN” Fund. The concert, presided by the legendary music director, AR Rahman and many other talented artists, was held at Nehru Indoor Stadium, Chennai on March 19th 2023.
The event was a resounding success and brought acknowledgement and recognition from the media, public, and members of the film industry to the Lightmen and their families.

About the Lightmen of Film Industry and “Save Lightman” Fund

A crucial aspect of filmmaking is lighting. It is a tedious occupation that requires the combined efforts of multiple people who work under risky conditions. Lightmen need to handle heavy equipment and technical difficulties throughout the long shooting hours. They also underpaid and underappreciated Through this concert, we wish to honor the lightmen of the film industry and salute their dedication from between the screen.

The “SAVE LIGHTMAN” Fund was founded to support Lightman and their families and protect them with compensation and insurance for their health.

About AR Rahman

A.R. Rahman is a highly acclaimed Oscar and Grammy recipient, who is a prominent music director, songwriter and philanthropist who has worked across the pan-Indian film industries. He is one of the most influential artists in the nation.

AR Rahman gained recognition for his work on the Tamil film “Roja” (1992), which earned him a National Film Award for Best Music Direction. Since then, he has become a significant figure in the industry and has composed music for numerous successful movies. AR Rahman is fondly known as Isai Puyal (Musical Storm) in the Tamil Film Industry.

He gained an international reputation and acclaim for his work on “Slumdog Millionaire” (2008), for which he won two Academy Awards and a Golden Globe.

AR Rahman has been bestowed with the honours of Padma Bhushan and Kalaimamani awards by the Government of India and the Tamil Nadu state government. In his 30 years of unparalleled success and stardom, he has reinvented the Indian music industry and established his name and impact on a global level.
